ASPAPEL, Preditec, and monom by Preditec recently brought sector specialists together for a webinar. The topic was simple but urgent: stop fixing equipment after it breaks, and start predicting the break instead.
The session took place on May 26, online. It circled around one core idea. Most paper mills still run on reactive maintenance. That means teams only step in once something has already failed.
Speakers agreed on one thing: that margin is shrinking. Competitiveness today plays out on the plant floor, not just in the market.
Rodrigo Álvarez, from ASPAPEL, opened with the sector’s current challenges. Then José Fernández-Díez, CEO of monom by Preditec, and María José Gómez, from Preditec, reframed the issue. Asset management, they argued, isn’t a maintenance cost. It’s a competitive edge.
Jorge Arancón, Product Manager at monom by Preditec, closed the session. His talk was the most hands-on. He walked through real use cases showing how generative AI, applied to industrial assets, doesn’t stop at flagging an anomaly. It also helps interpret it — and turn it into something a plant can act on.
From alert to action: monom by Preditec’s approach
That last point is where monom by Preditec’s own approach stands out. It’s not just about monitoring vibration or isolated sensors. The platform takes a process-aware view. It connects directly to whatever historian, SCADA, or DCS a plant already runs — no firewall changes needed.
The goal is to close the full loop in one platform: from anomaly, to failure mode, to remaining useful life, to a prescriptive recommendation.
This piece builds on other outlets’ coverage of the ASPAPEL–Preditec webinar. It zooms in on how monom by Preditec aims to move industrial AI past detection and into prescriptive action.
