Cloud Industry and its role in digitized maintenance

Before continuing, in case any doubts arise, Cloud Industry does not refer to the Cloud Industry, but to the Industry that digitizes all its processes and assets to be managed from the Cloud, becoming a 100% Cloud industry.

The concept of INDUSTRY 4.0 is leading all industrial sectors to digitalization, with production processes being the most advanced.

But if we really want to have an industry 4.0 we will have to take our industry to the cloud, allowing the physical and the virtual to be one and transparent for managers and collaborators of any industrial company. Or in other words, to digitize assets and processes in the same way.

There is no point in digitizing processes in an industry if its assets are not digitized. Assets that must remain physical.

Especially the assets that are responsible for creating the valuable product/service that the company offers to the market.

The latest development that has taken place in this regard is the digitization of asset maintenance processes and the digitization of these same assets. And it has been done from multipurpose Industrial IoT platforms.

In other words, apply intelligence to the assets, via IoT devices, to be able to apply predictive artificial intelligence to predict when an asset should be maintained, foreseeing failures or production downtime. And digitize the maintenance processes performed by specialists, using Augmented Reality to ensure the correct maintenance process, eliminate human errors and also reduce downtime, regardless of the experience of the technicians, being guided by a digital platform, at every step, with absolute precision to avoid failures or poor quality work.

Having a multipurpose IoT cloud platform that manages all assets (no matter what they are and what needs to be monitored in order to digitize them) and also allows to generate dashboards and alerts to automatically generate the work report and to indicate step by step, to the staff, what actions to perform, How and with what precision for each task and follow the process in the right order, we will be able to reduce maintenance times by up to 40% (at least that is our experience) and increase efficiency, we will have taken a giant step in the digitization of maintenance and consequently in giving the company the advantage of being a Cloud Industry.

There are collateral effects to this digitization process. Such as maximizing the performance of assets, their monitoring and control, but also the retention of knowledge for specialists, which is increased by up to 80%, and the elimination of errors. All this has a direct impact on the efficiency and added value of the company.

Whether we want to admit it or not, the digitization of industry is a reality and the next step is the Cloud Industry, a step in which we will be able to manage our entire company from an Industrial Cloud.

We, from the Alava Group and with the help of our partner Innovae, have created this IIoT platform, with digitalized maintenance functionalities for assets and infrastructures.

I won't keep you any longer, but let me say goodbye by asking you a couple of questions: What would your industrial company gain if it were a Cloud Industry? What would you lose by learning more about this concept and looking for ways to apply it to your business?
